THAW: a wasting disease (1997)
Sculptural installation
Glass, mirror, b&w photos, silver tape
20x140x230cm
A dirty springtime snow bank was photographed then transported into the glass shop. Hot glass bubbles were pressed into the snow, recording its texture and dirt. The textured glass was mirrorized. The photos of the snow bank were mounted on plate glass rectangles. Other sheets of glass were backed with silver ducting tape. The flat glass and the textured glass are used to reconstruct the snow bank. The process of how materials move from liquid to solid was of particular interest.
