Chill Factor (2005-2007)

Installation

Glass, cyanotypes and foamcore

variable dimensions: 2007 installation- 100x200x150cm

The bottom half of these glass spheres were made by pouring hot glass onto an artificially chilled or heated steel surface. The temperature of the steel is noted before the pour and it marked on the sphere with a grease pencil after the working process is completed (these temperature notations remains on the piece). A close look at the spheres and their projected shadows reveal that each chill mark has its own thumbprint and these glass thumbprints give a visual pattern and identity to temperature.
